The FDA is often criticized for not approving drugs fast enough, which many claim deprives Americans of life-improving and lifesaving medicine and devices.
To counter this criticism, the FDA created an ‘accelerated approval’ drug method to approve drugs treating serious or life-threatening conditions quicker.
