Nearly 60 percent of Americans – the highest ever – are taking prescription drugs. Nearly 3 in 5 American adults take a prescription drug, up markedly since 2000 because of much higher use of almost every type of including cholesterol lowering drugs. Millions of people may be needlessly taking statin drugs every day, according to medical research which suggests lowering cholesterol below a certain level does nothing to reduce heart risk.
