Hospitals have done nothing to limit antibiotic use despite growing resistance, a new report warns.

Between 2006 and 2012, antibiotic use in hospitals in general did not change.

In fact, doctors are more freely prescribing the class of drugs tied most closely to antibiotic resistance, according to a new study.

Experts warn the findings, published this week in JAMA, show we are not doing enough to prevent the not-so-distant possibility of widespread antibiotic resistance.
