My Outrage of the Year: Today you had a woman caller who complained of all types of symptoms and who didn’t think she would live for even another ten years with her illness. You recommended a holistic approach to her problem. She replied that she would try to get a referral from her doctor for insurance purposes before she would try your recommendations.
This is outrageous to me. I also have come across people like this and it is so irritating that I want to scream. I have decided that these people simply do not want help, they want to complain to anyone who will listen and then do nothing to help themselves. It is shades of hyprochondria.
This type of person will not hesitate to spend extra to go out to lunch instead of brown-bagging it to work. They will see a pair of shoes they like and buy the shoes without a thought, but won’t spend their money on a nutritionist or chiropractor who may be able to help them with their health problems. They won’t help themselves unless their insurance will cover the fee.
Since this type of person cannot or will not spend a few extra dollars on their own future, they don’t deserve to take your time. Your show is so helpful to so many people, people who really want your help (as evidenced by stroker calls)that I suggest that your screener ask the caller if they will accept your advise even if it means that insurance won’t cover a specialist’s visit. If they say no, they should not be allowed on the air.
I’m totally fed up with people who ask for the benefit of your knowledge, but won’t spend the money to help themselves.
Yours truly,
Mary B.
