Mahalo (Thank You in Hawaiian) Dr.Bob for Your very supporting Sunday Radio Shows!.They always have something for the many people who listen, including me.
I was fortunate enough to be asked to participate in a Statewide blue-ribbon panel with care providers, researchers and cancer survivers such as myself. It was brought up by me that I felt healthcare professionals were not sufficiently tuned in to the patients’ needs with respect to change of lifestyle, nutrition, exercise, complementary treatments in recovery and advice re patients’financial capabilities.
In the summary part of the forum I added:
George Bernard Shaw wrote:”Let no one suppose that the words DOCTOR and PATIENT can disguise from the parties the fact that they are EMPLOYER and EMPLOYEE”
Then I added” It is my belief that in the new century and beyond we no longer need medecine that is passive, reactive and piecemeal. We need medecine that is proactive and in partnership with the patient. This will benefit the whole person not just the disease”
Aloha to all!
