Steroid jabs could make knee pain WORSE: Study finds use of injections doubles the rate of cartilage loss

Older people who have steroid injections for osteoarthritis have been warned they may make the condition worse.

An estimated 4.7million people over 45 in Britain have the condition in their knee, causing severe pain which encourages many to seek relief using steroid jabs.

The injections provide two weeks of respite, but a US study found frequent use could raise the risk of a knee replacement.
