Nearly 12 million pounds of ground beef recalled amid salmonella outbreak

Another 5.1 millions of pounds of ground beef have been pulled from shelves as health officials struggle to contain a nationwide salmonella outbreak.

It comes two months after the USDA issued a recall of 6.5 million pounds of beef from the same manufacturer, JBS Tolleson, Inc, which is the third-largest producer in the US and the top meat packager in the world.

Since the last recall, another 246 illnesses were reported across 26 states, all linked to JBS beef. No deaths have been reported, according to the latest data on November 15.
