Marital Arguments Might Open the Door to Disease

Stressed couples who criticize each other and roll their eyes during arguments have higher levels of dangerous inflammation. Research suggests chronic inflammation can cause inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, cancer and many other diseases. A doctor from Ohio State University believes everyday marital distress – at least for some people – is causing changes in the gut that lead to inflammation and, potentially, illness.
