Five more obesity patients have died after having gastric balloons inserted to help them lose weight, the FDA has revealed.
It brings the global death toll up to 12 since 2016, but officials have yet to pinpoint the overriding cause.
Four of the recent deaths were caused by perforations in the stomach wall, which ripped within three weeks of the liquid-filled balloon being inserted.
