Each year over 300,000 older people are hospitalized for hip fractures. The reported 1-year death rate after sustaining a hip fracture has been estimated to be 14% to 58%. Antidepressant users sustain more hip fractures than nonusers both before and after therapy initiation, according to a study published in JAMA Psychiatry.
