Birth Control Pills Shrink Brain Area Responsible for Mood, Sleep and Sex Drive

Researchers at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City scanned the brains of 50 women, and saw a ‘dramatic difference’ in the size of a critically important brain region in women who took birth control pills. The lead author of the study, said: ‘There is a lack of research on the effects of oral contraceptives on this essential part of the living human brain.’ In 1960 birth control pills became available.
