Too Much Salt Can Trigger or Make Worse Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a progressive disease involving damage to the sheaths of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, whose symptoms may include numbness, impairment of speech and of muscular coordination, blurred vision, and severe fatigue. New research, published in the journal Nature Immunology, shows how a high intake of salt may cause inflammation in multiple sclerosis. The typical American diet contains way too much salt.
