Arguments about the risks of inserting neurotoxic toxic mercury into our teeth have raged for nearly 200 years, ever since they first became popular in the 1830s. Do silver dental fillings threaten our health by leaking mercury into our bloodstreams? The United Kingdom and German government acted to curb the use of mercury amalgam in children and women of childbearing age. Since then, Sweden, Norway and Denmark have also banned or restricted mercury fillings.
